Alexandre Roussas, founder and CEO of Pure Core

The real asset isn’t the building. It’s the power contract.

Now

I’m the founder and CEO of Pure Core. We develop power-ready infrastructure sites in the Nordics and in selected European markets.

As CEO, I run the company and make the teams work as one: site sourcing, finance and offtakers. We line up the megawatts first and bring the customers in after.

How I got here

  1. Sales

I started in sales. Four years in the field, including a stretch as a sales advisor at a BMW dealership in France. It’s a good school, and a humbling one. You learn quickly that nobody signs because you talked well. People sign when you’ve understood what they actually need, and when they believe you’ll still answer the phone once the paperwork is done. I haven’t found a better way to work since.

  2. Energy

Energy came next, in the UAE, where I ran Bitcoin mining infrastructure around the clock. Mining is a blunt teacher. A machine that’s switched off earns nothing, and the power bill decides whether any of it makes sense. That’s where I stopped judging a site by its walls and started judging it by its megawatts.

  3. Ymir

Then I co-founded Ymir Mining & Hosting. Sales never really left the job. Every new site depended on someone who controlled the power, or someone who needed it, agreeing to work with us. I left at the end of December 2025.

  4. Pure Core

Since late 2025 I’ve led Pure Core. We develop power-ready sites in the Nordics and a few other European markets, and we start from the energy rather than the building. In total I’ve built and operated around 35 MW of energy-intensive capacity. The method hasn’t changed much since the dealership: work out what the other side needs, then make sure you can deliver it.

On the record

All writing

  1. A line of high-voltage pylons running through a snow-covered forest

Denmark just ranked who gets the grid

Denmark has stopped connecting people to the grid in the order they asked. The government’s reason for putting data centres last says more about what a connection is worth than any market report.

  2. An electrical substation behind a chain-link fence

The real asset isn’t the building

The building takes one to two years. In Europe’s biggest hubs, the grid connection it needs takes seven to ten.

The building is the easy part.
